David Paul Smith

January 24, 1960 - December 8, 2021

David Paul Smith, 61, of Newcomerstown, went home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, ending his battle with ALS. He was born on January 24, 1960 in Parkersburg, WV to Kenneth and Esther (Bain) Smith. David entered the Air Force in 1978 and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. He retired as an Air National Guardsmen. He was a 1978 Parkersburg South High School graduate. He was an Aircraft Electrician. He enjoyed working on vehicles and projects, camping, playing with his grandchildren, and joking around with his ornery sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Claudia of Newcomerstown; his children Christopher Smith of Newcomerstown OH, Joshua (Jennifer) Smith of Bowling Green KY, Matthew (Tiffany) Smith of Uniontown PA, Leslie (Andrew) McManes of Zanesville, and Leroy Batteiger of New Philadelphia; grandchildren Joel, Amelia, Logan, Audrey, Kelsie, Haley, Kylie, Danny, Tyler, Matthew; mother Esther (Bain) Smith of Parkersburg WV; and siblings John Smith, Janice Lutz, Michael Smith, Mark Smith, and Philip Smith. A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown.
