Gene D. Edwards, of Newcomerstown, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born February 27, 1941 in Elizabeth, WV to the late Hazel Garretson. Gene was a former deputy of Tuscarawas county, a police officer at Newcomerstown and retired from Longaberger in 2008. He loved to hunt, fish, and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers. Spending time with his great-grandkids was his joy. Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban invasion and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. Gene is survived by his wife Donna (Mincks) Edwards; daughters, Michelle “Shelly” (Todd) Morrison, Kim (Ray) Dillon; grandsons, Shane Miller, Quinton Watson, Sawyer Marteny; granddaughters, Alyssa and Taylor Dillon; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; three sisters; one brother. Per Gene’s wishes, no services will be held.
