JoAnne P. Norris-Beatty

October 22, 1941 - May 14, 2022

We’ve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord; trusting on his holy word. He’s never failed us yet. JoAnne Pearl Norris-Beatty made a peaceful transition into the continued circle of life on Saturday morning May 14, 2022 after a long period of illness. JoAnne was born October 22, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Louis Walker and Evelyn “Gam” Black. JoAnne lived and was educated in the Newcomerstown education system and graduated from Newcomerstown High School 1959. JoAnne was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years and served as the treasurer and sound director. She put together a group, “Joyful Angels”, consisting of five young girls that would sing in the community and travel throughout Ohio. Their theme song was “We’ve come this Far by Faith” and JoAnne never forgot the power of Faith. In addition to being a dedicated member of her church, she also was a seamstress, cook, and homemaker. JoAnne was married to the late Raymond “Slugger” Norris. She is survived by the light of her life; her son Eric Norris (Katrina) whom she leaves to cherish her memory. Later JoAnne met and married the late Cleveland Lee Beatty. She leaves to treasure her remembrance sister Elaine Brown; 2 brothers; Joseph “Rick” Black and William “Skip” Black. She is preceded in death by sister Francine “Katie” Walker. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren; Rayshaun Norris, Joshua Moore-Norris, Trinity Norris and her niece, who served as her caretaker for 8 years, Jenny Beatty along with a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1 pm at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with Pastor Jane "ArNella" Anthony officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from noon to 1.
