Alice G. Henry, 80, of Port Washington, is now absent from her body, but present with her Lord, and transcended to her heavenly abode Friday, May 23, 2008. Born Feb. 3, 1928, in Dennison, Alice was a daughter of the late Otto and Florence Leggett Malterer. Alice started her life's journey with the late Ray Henry, her beloved husband of 50 years, whom she married Nov. 15, 1947. Alice and Ray spent their lives not only raising but enjoying their children: the late Carol Henry Davis, Cherie (Bob) Hall, Valerie Barron, Mike (Amy) Henry, and Ben (Jill) Henry all of Port Washington, Cindy Stocker of New Philadelphia, Mary Bell and Betty Beaver of Newcomerstown. They thought this was their greatest joy, until along came 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, who were the light of their lives. She is also survived by Gertrude Balentine of Riverside and Agnes (Tom) Edwards of Uhrichsville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Bud Malterer, and two sisters, Jane Murphy and Marie Rogers. Alice patterned her life after Jesus Christ and prided herself in upholding his holy word. She was never shy to witness to anyone who entered her door or passed her by. Anyone that left her home never left hungry - physically or spiritually. Her greatest earthly love by far was her family, to whom she devoted her entire life. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Peoli Church. Ministers presiding will be the Rev. Paul Schwab and Pastor Steve Delong. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Addy Funeral Home. Burial will be at Peoli Cemetery. Following the service a dinner will be held at the First Baptist Church in Port Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Baptist Church, 308 East First St., Uhrichsville, OH 44683
