Alvin D. Elliott, 72, of 21924 County Road 254, West Lafayette, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. Alvin was born March 8, 1933, in Coshocton County, to the late Charles and Virginia (Foster)Elliott. He served in the Army in the Korian War and worked at Jones Metal in West Lafayette for 44 years and nine months. He enjoyed taking his car to many car shows and winning many different awards. On Nov. 17, 1951, he married Mildred (Mathews) Elliott, who survives. Also surviving is one son, Robert (Judy) Elliott of Newcomerstown; one daughter, Diana (William) Green of Newcomerstown; five grandchildren; two great-granchildren; one sister, Sara (Ray) Sunkel of Jacksontown; and two brothers, Donald Elliott of West Lafayette, and Dick (Janice) Elliott of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Elliott; and three sisters, Mary Newell, Grace Jacobs and Betty Phillips. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Addy Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Sunkel and Clarence Miller officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown. Military services will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 1, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the funeral home.
