Anna Whitis

Anna B. Whitis, 97, of 1100 E. State Rd., Newcomerstown, O., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Newcomerstown, O. She was born Jan. 9, 1911, at Isleta, O., a daughter of the late Laura Bell (Spurr) Boyd and James C. Boyd. She retired in 1973 from Simonds Cutting Tools after 31 years in the shipping department. She was a member of Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene and its Ladies Bible Class, church choir, Missionary Society, Friendly Neighbors Club of Newcomerstown, Blue Ridge Grange, Port Washington Homemakers and former church board member. Her husband, Mervil Whitis, died in February 1976. Surviving are one sister, Marguerite Dyer of Port Washington; step-granddaughter, April Turner of Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Donna Colton of Newcomerstown. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Margie Leanna Normand, and two brothers, Walter H. Boyd and John R. Boyd. Services will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, beginning at 10 a.m. with Rev. Gene Whyde officiating. Burial will be in Coshocton County Memory Gardens, Coshocton, O. Visitation will be in Addy Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene, Goodrich and Neighbor Sts., Newcomerstown, O. 43832.
