Betty Jane Bliss

Betty Jane (Baker) Bliss, 95, of Newcomerstown. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say "Good Bye" to the matriarch of our family, our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother on August 13, 2024. Betty was born December 26, 1928 to the late Ira and Lorraine (Wyke) Baker in Birds Run. Betty graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1942. She lived and worked the majority of her lifetime in Newcomerstown, OH. She leaves her legacy behind for two daughters, Brenda Stokes and Tangy Bliss; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. One sibling remains, Gene Baker; and two sisters-in-laws, Dorothy and Ellen Baker. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Bliss (2008); two sisters; and five brothers. Most will say Betty lived a life of grace and much adventure. But to her family, it was with much love and cookies! We will remember her as "Mom" and "Grammy" forever. Interment will take place at Bird's Run Cemetery. Per her wishes, no services are being held.
