Clarence Miller Obituary

Clarence S. Miller, 81, of 6145 Riverside Drive, Newcomerstown, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Union Hospital in Dover. Clarence was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Coshocton County, to the late Ella Bernice (Smith) Miller and Samual Miller. He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1941. He was in the US Army and served in WW II from March 19, 1943, until Jan. 16, 1946, in the South Pacific as a Quartermaster Supply Tech. He was a Newcomerstown Police Officer from 1948 until 1960, and retired from the US Postal Service as a clerk in July 1985.He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcomerstown, where he was a Deacon, Youth Group and Baptist Camp Counselor, taught Sunday School for many years and was Sunday School Superintendent, and was on the building Committee. He belonged to the American Legion Thomas C. Montgomery 431 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On May 29, 1948, he married N. June (Patterson) Miller, who survives. He is survived by one son, Jeff Miller and wife Karen of Delaware; two grandsons, Nathanael and Nicholas Miller and one sister, Thelma Norman of West Lafayette. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Charles Miller; two sisters, Margaret Myers and Emma Miller. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Newcomerstown.
