D. Paul Morrison Obituary

Denver “Paul” Morrison, 82, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully April 9th 2025. Born March 17, 1943, Paul was a proud lifelong resident of the Newcomerstown area. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1960 and soon after answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. A Vietnam War veteran, Paul served honorably from 1966 to 1968.

Following his military service, Paul dedicated 34 years of hard work and commitment to Simmons Inc. in Newcomerstown.

Married March 22, 1964, Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Karen S. (Glazer) Morrison; his son, Travis P. Morrison of Port Washington, OH; and his sister, Karen S. (Morrison) Mergan of Rociada, NM. He also leaves behind two cherished grandsons—James L. Noel of Nashville, TN, and Jagger P. Morrison of Port Washington, OH, as well as his nephews Clifford Morrison, and Joseph Morrison; his nieces Tammy Poirier, Wanda Morrison, and Sara Morrison; his brother-in-law Rudy (Judy) Glazer; and nephews Renny (Daisy) Glazer, and Curt (Melanie) Glazer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Denver (& Wilma) Morrison of Lakewood, CA, his mother, Clara (& Rocky) Morrison Renner of Newcomerstown, his brother, John Morrison of Oviedo, FL, and his niece Linda (Morrison) Brown.

Paul’s life was marked by strong community ties and heartfelt service. He was an active member of Isleta United Methodist church, he sang in the choir, and he was a past trustee. His commitment to country and community shone through his active involvement with the Newcomerstown VFW, the Vietnam Veterans, and the Honor Guard. He also was a member of the Masonic Temple Lone Star Lodge #175.

An avid baseball fan and devoted follower of the Cleveland Guardians, Paul also shared his passion for the sport by serving as founding Chairman of the Ridgewood High School Baseball Boosters, and in conjunction with other members, were able to make significant improvements to the baseball facilities and program. He took great pride in how the “Wood Nation” community continued that legacy to this day, with one of the finest natural turf HS baseball facilities in the area.

Paul’s legacy is one of quiet strength, steadfast loyalty, and deep-rooted love for his family, his country, and his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
