Ethel M. Carter, 84, of 4251 1st St. SW, New Philadelphia, O., died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Twin City Hospital at Dennison, O. She was born March 11, 1924, in Guernsey County, O., a daughter of the late Lucille (Maple) Lafferty and George Lafferty. She was a housewife and a member of First Church of God of New Philadelphia. On Sept. 16, 1945, she married Charles A. Carter, who died Jan. 22, 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Hardesty of Navarre and Marilyn Henderson of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Chester Carter of New Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Woodring of Bakersville. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Carter; two brothers and six sisters. Services will be held in Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown on Monday, June 9, 2008, beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Matt Roe officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery at Plainfield, O. Visitation will be in Addy Funeral Home on Monday, June 9, 2008, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
