James Styer Obituary

James M. Styer, 81 of 537 Oak Street Newcomerstown, died Thursday September 4, 2003, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newcomerstown. He was Born June 6, 1922, in Coshocton County to the late Irene(Smith)Styer and Martin J. Styer. He was a World War II Veteran and served with the 3rd Armor Division as a surgical technician (combat Medic) from Jan 9, 1943 to Feb 16,1946.Mr. Styer also retired from Simonds Ind. of Newcomerstown, a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Post 431 American Legion and Steel Workers Union 2931.He was also an Avid Golfer. On March 9, 1946, he married Ruth Marie(Wise)Styer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons,Joel Lee(Myriam)Styer of Newcomerstown and Daniel Martin(Linda)Styer of Newcomerstown; daughters, Karen Lynn Styer of Newcomerstown and Lori Beth(Mathew)Horvath of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Christopher Sean Styer, Gabrielle Pascale(Brian)Weingarth, Ryan Daniel(Nicole)Styer, Rebecca Ann (Okey) Ekechi, Kaleb Horvath, Cheyenne Horvath, Micaiah Horvath, Ty Horvath; great-grandchildren, Alexis M. Styer, Cassidy A. Styer, Anna M. Styer, Evin O. Styer and Devin M. Weingarth; Step greatgrandson, Brandon S. Weingarth. He was preceded in death by one grandson Michael James Styer and one sister, Gloria ( Joan) Schlarb. Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at Addy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen T. Sparling officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 pm, Friday Sept. 5, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4815 Munson St., N.W., Canton, OH 44718.
