James Foster McDonnell Obituary

James Foster McDonnell, 84, of Newcomerstown, passed away at his home, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Newcomerstown. He was born November 5, 1939 in Coshocton, to the late William and Mildred (Kinner) McDonnell. He worked at G.E. in Coshocton where he retired. He was also a farmer all his life, having been born into it and continued. He was previously a 4-H advisor who loved his farm, his kids and his grandkids. He was a wonderful husband, great friend, and excellent father. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcomerstown. On October 10, 1959, he married his wife Ellen Lee (Greathouse) McDonnell who survives. In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Janet Lee McDonnell, Beth Ellen (David) Hamersley, James Richard McDonnell of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Jamie Lee Leidner, James Austin Trzop, Kayla Marie Moyer, Deanna Michelle Hamersley, Lauren Danielle Mitchell, Kassi Lee Lafferty, James Conner McDonnell, Kiersten Danielle Young; 10 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Curtis James Judy, Kylee Christine Smith; siblings, Richard McDonnell, Joan Deibel, John Robert McDonnell. A graveside service for James McDonnell will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM at West Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.
