Jerry A. Wilson Obituary

Jerry A. Wilson, 76 of Port Washington, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital in Canton.

Jerry was born October 19, 1948, in Dennison to the late Stephen and Norma (Boles) Wilson. Jerry graduated from Tuscarawas Warwick High School in 1967, and then went on to honorably serve in the United States Army from 1968-1971. He married the love of his life Maxine (Charleston) Wilson on September 21, 1974, who survives. They just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary and Jerry was particularly proud. Jerry loved nature and the outdoors, and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. He was an inventor, and an entrepreneur who owned a sporting clays business called Lone Dove Sporting Clays. He was an excellent carpenter, and built homes for his family.  He also built his own hunting cabin from scratch, including cutting down the logs to use for the walls. He had an interest in Native American history, and liked going to Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. Jerry loved his family more than anything, and will be deeply missed by each and every one of them.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Maxine Wilson; his children Angela (Mark) Albaugh, Travis Wilson, and Ryan (Alisha) Wilson; his grandchildren Ethan Albaugh, Gavin Albaugh, Hayden Wilson, and Blaine Wilson; his brother Benjamin (Nancy) Wilson; his brother-in-law Dale (Debbie) Charleston; and his sisters-in-law Lynne Wilson and Louise (Mark) Colvin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jerry is also leaving behind his dog Bodie.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Kathryn (Bill) Walker, Lucille (John) Northam, Linda Wilson, and Richard Wilson; and his in-laws Willis and Elizabeth Charleston.

Per Jerry’s wishes, a cremation will take place. There are no scheduled services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry’s name to St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 N. Main St Chamberland, South Dakota 57325, or to Combat Warriors Outdoors, PO box 299 Tuscarawas, Ohio 44682.
