Joanne Hursey

Joanne Hursey, 79, of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 at her residence.

Joanne was born December 14, 1945, in Massillon to the late Harry and Esther (Rohr) Jordan. She worked as a switchboard operator, and later went on to work at McClain Grocery as a photo setter. She enjoyed visiting her friends and sisters, and occasionally gambling for fun. She also enjoyed working on the farm.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-three years Gary Hursey; her sister Rosie Meyer; her niece Denise (Dave) Whiting; nephews Mike (Karen) Meyer, and Gary Meyer; her great nieces Ashley Whiting and Megan Meyer; and great-nephews Andrew and Christopher Whiting, and Zachary Meyer.

Along with her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her son Craig Allen Hursey; her sister Shirley Jordan; and her brother-in-law Jerry Meyer.

A visitation will be held at Addy Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 17 at 11:00 am with Terry Wilcox officiating. Joanne will be laid to rest beside her son in Wesley Community Chapel Cemetery.
