John Conlon Obituary

John Joseph "Jack" Conlon, 79, of 617 Wood Avenue, Newcomerstown, O., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Southeastern Ohio Regency Medical Center at Cambridge, O. He was born June 15, 1928, at Cleveland, O., a son of the late Edna (Lane) Conlon and John Thomas Conlon. He was a graduate of Benedictine High School and a veteran of the Army during the Korian War. He retired from Cleveland Transit System after 19 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Newcomerstown. He was affiliated with St. Lawrence Church and Apostolic Oneness Church of God, both of Cleveland. He was the former president of C.T.S. credit union and lifetime member, a lifetime member of American Legion. Jack was a devoted husband and father and cherished time with his family. He loved camping, fishing and had many other favorite memories of buying his farm in Guernsey and attending church services and activities. Surviving are his wife, Rosezetti Perkins Conlon, whom he married July 19, 1957; three sons, James Patrick Conlon (Lori), Michael Conlon (Phyllis), all of Newcomerstown, and Burley Wayne Dye (Sue) of Swords Creek, Va; two daughters, Kathie Conlon Carr (Jim) and Carol Conlon Harper, all of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Carrie (Christopher) Crabtree, Emily Rose Lyons (fiance' Jeff Bradford), John Patrick Conlon (fiance' Laura Burge), Megan Leigh Conlon, Chasity (Brad) Opphile, Ashley (Andy) Chrisman, Michael Gadd and Michael Ethan Conlon; and special friends, Shawn and Tish Parks; great-grandchildren, Christopher Ryan, Jordan Nathaniel and Jacob Tyler Crabtree, Chelsea Nicole Conlon and Rylie Jo Chrisman. He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas J. Conlon; one sister, Patricia Conlon Bojarski; one grandson, Joseph Shawn Conlon; two sons-in-law, Rick Harper and Edgar Eugene (Gene) Lyons; and special aunt, Murial Carson. Services will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gene Whyde, Pastor Len Nardozzi and Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown, O., where military services will be conduted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be in Addy Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
