Kay L. Dichler, 87, of Bolivar, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Newcomerstown.
Kay was born April 24, 1938, in Guernsey County to the late John E. and Annetta (Tedrick) Mathews. She was the Valedictorian of the Port Washington High School class of 1955. She then went on to work at the office of the Secretary of State of Ohio after attending business college in Columbus then later worked as the secretary for Goshen Brick Company. Her and her husband owned Nationwide Insurance Agency in Newcomerstown for 37 years. Kay was a Christ follower and had impeccable organizational skills. She was the 1956 Miss Clay, she enjoyed singing and was known for her voice. Kay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Dichler, whom she married on November 24, 1957. She is also survived by her son, Justin (Jackie) Dichler of Port Washington; grandchildren, Sarah (Katie) Bishop of Columbus, Hannah (Joe) Jacobs of Port Washington, Austin Dichler of Port Washington, Julia Dichler (Ryan Oliver) of Massillon; step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Reiser of Tuscarawas, Josh (Brittney) Rennicker of Dennison, Jessica (Jeremiah) Widmer of Wadsworth; four great-grandchildren, Kaysen, Myla, Riley, and Liliana; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Marlene Gatten.
Kay is reunited in Heaven with her daughter, Jill Dichler. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Everett Mathews and Linda Ford.
A funeral service will be held at the Addy Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 12 p.m. with Pastor Jim Shamel officiating. Visitation will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Thursday July 17, 2025 from 5 to 7 and on Friday from 11 to noon before the service. Kay will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery Port Washington.
