Laura Mae Stonebrook, 87, of 54893 Township Road 172, Fresno, died Monday, May 19, 2008, at her residence. She was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Fresno, to the late Lewis and Nina Keller Fortune. She was a graduate of Fresno High School and was a farmer, housewife, cook and custodian at Ridgewood Schools. She was a lifelong member of Fresno United Methodist Church and was very active in all church functions, American Legion Auxiliary Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431 and was a member of the Farm Bureau. Laura married Harry F. Stonebrook on March 30, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2006. Surviving are two daughters, Stella (William) Emler of Fresno, and Nina (Bentson) Beckett of West Lafayette; five grandchildren, Michael Emler, Sarah Emler, Laura Beckett, Chrystal Wilson and Rebecca Beckett; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Patterson of West Lafayette. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Sharpe and Clara Smith. Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 25, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown. Pastor Susan Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Fresno. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Coshocton County, P.O. Box 1284, Coshocton, OH 43812.
