Malcom Doyle Obituary

Malcom Doyle Ott, 88, of 352 N. 10th St., Coshocton, O., died Thursday, March 20, 2008, in Grant Medical Center at Columbus, O. Born Sept. 19, 1919, at Bakersville, O., he was a son of the late Aurilla Minnie (McCormick) Ott and Henry Edward Ott. Malcom was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served from May 11, 1945, until Dec. 9, 1945. He had worked at Heller Tool, Moore Enameling and Penn-Mich for 23 years and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Newcomerstown, American Legion (Thomas C. Montgomery Post No. 431), Gideon Coshocton Camp, and had held many offices in the church. Surviving are his wife, Helen I. (Monroe) Scaife Ott, whom he married Nov. 8, 1969; five sons, Malcom D. Ott II and wife Linda of Columbus, David H. Ott and wife Linda of Prospect, Ky., Kendall L. Ott and wife Theresa of Newcomerstown, Greg A. Ott and wife Kathy of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim B. Ott and wife Teresa of Coshocton; one daughter, Sarita Jo Ott-Harding and husband Wesley of Prince George, Va.; two step-daughters, Ruth Ann Scaife Gay and husband Dale of Dodge City, Kan., and Stella Marie Scaife Cichonski and husband Jack of Park, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Malcom was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie M. Rennicker McElhaney Ott, whom he married Aug. 19, 1944, and who died April 29, 1968; one son, Daniel D. Ott; one brother, Dennis E. Ott; and four sisters, Charlene, Evelyn, Arlene and Martha. Services will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chauncey Eggan, Rev. Frank Conley and Rev. Garry Marlatt officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 187, Newcomerstown, O. 43832.
