Marcia Ann Loftin, 86, of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on May 21, 1938, in Colrain, Massachusetts, Marcia was the daughter of the late Deane Kinsman Dwight and Maude Alyce Tennyson. A woman of many talents, Marcia devoted her life to nurturing others—first as a kindergarten teacher, later as a floral arrangement instructor, and always as a devoted mother and grandmother.
Marcia had a gift for bringing creativity and care into everything she did. She proudly served as a den mother for the Boy Scouts and a 4-H advisor, always eager to support and encourage her children’s endeavors. Known affectionately as a “Jill of all trades,” Marcia was a skilled painter, a passionate crafter, and an extraordinary baker—famous for the sweet treats she lovingly delivered to her daughter’s workplace. She adored craft shows and found endless inspiration on Pinterest. True to her adventurous spirit, she even taught herself to crochet in her 70s, playfully calling herself a “hooker.”
Marcia is survived by her loving children: Lance “Jody” Loftin, Price (Tammy) Loftin, April (Travis) Main, and Paige Norman; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, John Loftin; grandson, Logan D. Loftin; and siblings, Bobi Sumner, Esther Hill, Ed Dwight, and Ralph Dwight.
In accordance with Marcia’s wishes, cremation will take place. She will be laid to rest alongside family in Oregon.
