Mary B. Hoffman, 97, of West Lafayette, died Friday, Sept., 5, 2008 at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Dec. 11, 1910, in Coshocton County, to Frank and May Belle Elliot West. Mary was recently honored as the oldest and longest member of the Isleta United Methodist, where she was a member for 75 years. She was a member of the Farm Bureau, a 4-H advisor for many years, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. On Jan. 14, 1932, she married Jacob C. Hoffman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1979. Survivors include one daughter, Betty A. Patterson of West Lafayette; three sons, James (Martha) Hoffman, John (Carole) Hoffman, and Ralph Hoffman, all of West Lafayette; one son-in-law, Earl Patterson of Plainfield; nine grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Patterson; one son-in-law, Dean Patterson; a brother, Russel West; an infant twin sister; and one sister, Lucille Rock. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Addy Funeral Home, 406 West State St., Newcomerstown. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isleta United Methodist Church, 58608 County Road 9, Newcomerstown, or to the Palliative Care Unit at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, 1460 Orange St., Coshocton.
