Richard McMillen

Richard F. McMillen, 90, of 1110 E. State Rd., Newcomerstown, O., died Thursday, April 17, 2008, in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center of Cambridge, O. Born Nov. 26, 1917, in Newcomerstown, O., he was the son of the late Albert and Ellen (Phillips) McMillen. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from Aug. 20, 1942, until Jan. 26, 1946, as an electrician?s mate second class. He had worked at Clow?s of Newcomerstown for 12 years and retired as an electrician from General Tire of Newcomerstown. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Newcomerstown and was an Elder in the church for many years. Surviving are his wife, Lucille O. (Shryock) McMillen, whom he married on Nov. 1, 1941; daughters Diane Powell of Newcomerstown and Barbara Fyock and husband JR of Newcomerstown; one son, Richard McMillen Jr. and wife Barbara of Riverview, Mich.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One brother, Donald McMillen, and one sister, Wilma Hammersly, preceded him in death. Services will be held in Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown on Monday, April 21, 2008, beginning at 1 p.m. with Charles Newell officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery at West Lafayette, O. Calling hours are at Addy Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
