William "Bill" S. VanSickle

William “Bill” Sayre VanSickle, 79 of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 at Riverside Manor after a brief battle with cancer.

Bill was born December 22, 1945, in Canton to the late Earl and Pauline (Higgs) VanSickle. Bill was a previous member of Newcomerstown Baptist Church, and a previous member of the Moose Lodge. He was an active member of the Newcomerstown Senior Center, a member of the Newcomerstown Historical Society, and previously volunteered at the Newcomerstown Museums. Bill loved meeting new people and making friends, and was a big fan of Elvis Presley. His favorite thing in the world was spending time with his family, and he never missed any of his grandkids sporting events or activities.

Bill is survived by his children Angie (Dave) Shugars, Beth (Rich) Sanders, and Bryan VanSickle; his grandchildren Ashley (Steven) Brooks, Savannah (Tim) Griffin, Alexes (Alvey Starkey) Sanders, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Evin, Jayson Sanders, and Julia (Chase Haver) Sanders; his great-granddaughter Emery Brooks; his friend Bill Casteel; and his friends at the Newcomerstown Senior Center.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Edith (Jr.) Freetage.

A visitation will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm with Rev. Eric Miller officiating. Burial will take place at West Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
